Thrash Metal

Double-time riffs, palm mute, and punk tempo inside metal’s gain culture.

Thrash hardens NWOBHM and hard rock with punk speed: downpicked sixteenth riffs, shouted vocals, and tighter song lengths than epic metal. The Bay Area / European circuits make it a parallel metal mainstream in the mid-80s. Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer are the teaching set—discipline and aggression as the product, not ballad gloss.
