Franz Ferdinand
Post-punk revival dance-rock; Take Me Out’s mid-song tempo drop became a club/indie staple.
Formed 2002. Debut Franz Ferdinand (2004) and You Could Have It So Much Better married wire-tight rhythm guitar to disco bass figures and Alex Kapranos’s deadpan vocal. Take Me Out (2004) splits verse and chorus tempos on purpose—teaching arrangement as drama without prog length. They sit with Interpol/Strokes-era revival but aim at dance floors more than NYC cool.
