Hub

Short tragic tenure that freezes the Joy Division catalog; surviving members become New Order without him.

Born 1956. Fronts Joy Division with Sumner, Hook, Morris. Unknown Pleasures (1979) and Closer (1980) cite dry Martin Hannett production under Curtis’s baritone and lyric freeze-frames. Dies May 1980; band ends. Sumner/Hook/Morris form New Order. Hub is negative space: the person page marks the cut between post-punk peak and the dance-leaning sequel.
