Formed 1994. Ágætis byrjun (1999) and ( ) established Jónsi’s falsetto, reverb-drenched guitars, and orchestral builds; Takk… added clearer melodic singles. Hoppípolla (2005) is the chart/licensing entry. They sit with Mogwai/Godspeed on the post-rock map but keep song-shaped hooks and vocal melody as primary carriers.
